It is everyone’s dreaded speech. It is usually not a speech you look forward to giving however, when it comes we brace up to the task.
Everyone talks about how eulogies are unsung praises that should have been said while the person could hear. Some call them fake praises. It may or may not be true in context.
I once thought about how I would eulogize a certain loved one and talk about how I felt they were a horrible person but in the end we fail to understand that in the face of death; those grudges we hold with the fickle life that just departed does not just measure.
Maybe eulogies may seem like unsung praises to the dead. I think it’s more of a realization that life is to short to hold grudges even at death and at that time we subconsciously decide to remember a life of impact than the mistakes this soul made.
Eulogies, to me, are an expression of forgiveness towards an unkind soul and a reaffirmation of relevance towards a kind one.
